Ants are insects that live in colonies. They are eusocial insects of the Families Formicidae and they are also related to wasps and bees in the Hymenoptera class among others. They can be very small or very big, and they can be all different colors too. Ants live in colonies that can range from just a few to millions of people living together! Ants have the ability to organize themselves and work as a team.

Ant Control

Ants are hard to control. They can lead to big problems for your house. Here are some things you should know about ants:

Entry: Ants can get into your house through any little opening. They like to eat sugar or oily things, so they look for them in the kitchen pantry or storeroom.

Scent trails: Ants leave a chemical tail that is invisible. It tells other ants where the food source is.

Nest locations: They can make a nest anywhere in and around your house. They can do this on lawns, walls, or even under the foundation.

Colony size: A colony can have up to 300,000 ants or 500,000. When it is threatened, the whole colony might move out quickly.

Colony Lifetime: A colony can live a long time. Some worker ants may live for seven years, and the queen ant may live for 15 years.

Do it yourself effectiveness:  Most do-it-yourself treatments kill only the ants you see. Truly effective treatments can penetrate and destroy nests. Home remedies do not account for the fact that different kinds of ant infestations require different treatments.

Biology of ants

There are different types of ants that do different things. Ants can be workers, males, or queens. The males in general appear to be the same size or even bigger than the worker. Queens is one of the biggest members of an area, often at least twice as big as workers. Different species of ants feed on different foods such as starches and other meats which contain fat. Several ants also feed with honeydew, that sweet water produced by aphids and scale insects.

Finding the nest is the key to controlling because ants are social insects. Other species can mate near a structure and construct their houses foraging. Nests may also be constructed under the foundation or beside a house, under walkways. The location of attractive materials such as jelly, oils protein, and other materials attract a great many ants. A few ant species deposit earth at or on the ground surface at the opening of their nests when they build it. Some trails of ante species pass-through holes but the nest can be closer. Ants can sometimes nest within interior walls if the wall is below the floorboard or under a wall.

Spray insecticides

As often as possible observation and treating the ant nest is possible for these. The pesticide is much more effective than spraying a structural component exterior which uses a considerably smaller chemical. Rapid pest management professionals also have the experience to manage house ants’ problems. If you have pest complaints get them dealt with by a qualified ant control company. If ants persist after control efforts are attempted should we consult with a professional pest manager? Common spray insecticides used for controlling ants include cypermethrin, deltamethrin and lambda-cyhalothrin, and permethrin.
